Kalaweit
Kalaweit was founded in 1997 to save the gibbons of Indonesia and their habitat, which are under threat due to logging for tropical wood
and clearing for oil palm plantations.
Today, Kalaweit runs the biggest gibbon protection programme in the world, rescuing captive gibbons, creating reserves, and raising awareness of the importance of wildlife protection through its pioneering radio station, Kalaweit FM. Nominated by the International Primate Protection League.
