Les Amis des Bonobos du Congo, DRC (Bonobos)

'Friends of the Bonobos' run the only bonobo sanctuary in the world and integrated youth education - reaching 35,000 people per year. Founded in 1994, the sanctuary has rescued over 80 orphans, with a yearly survival rate of 95% and successfully reintroduced to the wild since 2009.

YIARI Indonesia (Orangutans)

YIARI runs rescue and rehabilitation in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, since 2009. Over 70 orangutans have been rescued to date, and they initiated the first rehabilitation and reintroduction project for orangutans in this province. In collaboration with Gunung Palung Orangutan Conservation Programme, they also run a Human-Orangutan Conflict project.

Wildlife Conservation Society, Nigeria

Working in Nigeria since 1996, WCS have supported chimpanzee and gorilla conservation through aiding creation of sanctuaries and national park land, trans-boundary management of protected areas, research, and alternative livelihood projects for ex-hunters.

Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Sierra Leone (Chimpanzees)

Operating since 1988, the Tacugama Sanctuary deals with the rescue and rehabilitation of chimpanzees. Since 2005 the project has been running a nationwide education programme as well as local community support. They also conduct local research censuses of wild populations.

CRPL and PoPoF, Democratic Republic of Congo
(Chimpanzees and Eastern Lowland Gorillas)

CRPL primate rehabilitation centre cares for primates orphaned by illegal hunting and the bushmeat trade, including 53 chimpanzees and 63 monkeys of 10 different species. Opened in 2003, CRPL works with the government to enforce legal protection of primates and carries out vital outreach work with communities around the Kahuzi-Biega National Park - protecting the Eastern Lowland Gorillas and their habitat.

The Kasiisi Project, Uganda

The Kasiisi Project is a Ugandan School project that provides education support to local schools and operates in collaboration with the Kibable Chimpanzee Project,teaching wildlife conservation to communities on the forest edge. The bike will be shared with UNITE and the New Nature Foundation.

UNITE for the Environment

UNITE for the Environment is a program of the North Carolina Zoo that provides conservation education to 11 schools surrounding Uganda's Kibale National Park, home to the largest chimpanzee population in East Africa. The bike will be shared with the Kasiise Project, and the New Nature Foundation.

New Nature Foundation

The New Nature Foundation runs education, awareness and community fuel wood projects to protect Kibale National Park from deforestation and poaching. It was established in 2006. The bike will be shared with the Kasiisi Project and UNITE.
