The workshops are aimed at Primary and Secondary School children, delivered by undergraduate university students supervised by Ape Alliance as part of our Student Volunteer Programme.

Would you like some fresh extracurricular activities for your students? The Ape Alliance-Adventures with Apes workshop encourages students to engage with the world around them; with the help of our dedicated volunteers, students will learn about the Great Apes-our closest cousins, with a truly immersive Virtual Reality experience. We aim to teach students about the ecology of the Great Apes, the threats they face from habitat destruction and palm oil industries, and how pupils can contribute to their conservation in their daily lives. Making use of virtual reality headsets and our own pedal-powered cinema kit encourages participation and means the sessions are interactive as well as informative. We aim for students to leave the session with a greater knowledge and awareness of the Great Apes, and how they might be able to contribute towards their conservation.

Sessions can be tailored to suit the length and age of pupils.

"We were impressed by the great delivery from a dedicated team but also by the use of technology. We understand it stems from a desire to allow people to 'travel' the world virtually. The same concept works really well in a classroom and certainly inspired dozens of children to take action, in one session. Thank you for setting up an app suitable for school children and thank you for bringing such great presenters on the day.

Very best,
Tom
