Management position for the Reintroduction programme (for orangutans and slow lorises) run by International Animal Rescue Indonesia, in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia.

This position will be based in Ketapang, requiring time at the reintroduction field stations, with travels to meetings in Bogor, Jakarta or Pontianak, and field trips within Kalimantan.


Duties and Responsibilities: management of the programme at an operational and/or strategic level.

Operational level involves the day to day management of the project, ensuring the activities run in accordance to the activity planning and within the budgets approved and human resources management. It will require skills in dealing with local communities, government representatives, as well as knowledge in the field of reintroduction of primates.

Strategic level involves the programme planning, monitoring and evaluation, programme funding and financial management (budgeting, budget control, etc.) ensuring funding (through grant making and others) and timely reporting.

And in overall, the smooth running of the project in accordance with IAR’s strategy and planning, under the supervision of the Board of YIARI.



Criteria for applicants:

-          Fluent in Indonesian and English

-          Minimum required a Diploma (S1) in a related discipline. A Masters or PhD will be considered in the selection process.

-          At least 2 years experience in conservation in Indonesia

-          Experience in rehabilitation and reintroduction projects. Any experience with Orangutans or other primates will be    considered.

-          This position requires field work at a research station and field camps. A good and healthy physical and mental condition is required.

-          Good knowledge of computer required, amongst others: Word, Excel, SPSS, etc. GIS knowledge and work experience will be considered in the selection process.

-          Experience in survey techniques including data analysis and reporting required.

-          Experience in behavioral observation data collection, analysis and reporting required.

-          Experience in proposal and funding application writing and donor reporting required.

-          Management skills required (at least two years in a Management position).
