Do You See What I See?

(A Poem Written From The Point Of View Of A Baby Gorilla)

By Helen Bailey @bailey_hm @awild_Life

Do you see what I see?

I see the rich colours of the forest constantly moving.

I see life.

I see the watery brown eyes of my mother.

I see love.

I see the tall forest canopy.

I see abundance.

I see the gentle stroke of my father’s hand.

I see protection.

I see the stars light the sky.

I see comfort.

Do you see what I see?

I see rich forest colours turn into dusty browns.

I see destruction.

I see the distracted eyes of my mother.

I see fear.

I see forest canopy vanish.

I see hunger.

I see the wound where they took my father’s hand.

I see despair.

I see lights on the ground make the stars disappear.

I see confusion.

Do you see what I see?

I see YOU. Do you see ME?
